  1. Hi, can I help you?
  2. I'd like to find out if you
  3. Have any excursions suitable for families.
  4. Sure. How about taking your family for a cruise?
  5. We have a steamship that takes passengers out several times a day.
  6. It's over a hundred years old.
  7. That sounds interesting.
  8. How long is the trip?
  9. About an hour and a half.
  10. And don't forget to take pictures of the mountains.
  11. They're all around you when you're
  12. On the boat and they look fantastic.
  13. OK. And I assume there's a café or something on board?
  14. Sure. How old are your children?
  15. My daughter's 15 and my son's 7.
  16. Right. Well, there are various things you can do once
  17. You've crossed the lake to make a day of it.
  18. One thing that's very popular is a visit to the country farm.
  19. You're met off the boat by the farmer
  20. And he'll take you to the holding
  21. Pens where the sheep are kept.
  22. Children love feeding them.
  23. My son would love that.
  24. He really likes animals.
  25. Well, there's also a 40-minute trek
  26. Round the farm on a horse if he wants.
  27. Do you think he'd manage it?
  28. He hasn't done that before.
  29. Sure. It's suitable for complete beginners.
  30. Good. And again, visitors are welcome
  31. To explore the farm on their own,
  32. As long as they take care to close gates and so on.
  33. There are some very beautiful gardens along the side of the lake
  34. Which also belong to the farm.
  35. They'll be just at their best now.
  36. You could easily spend an hour or two there.
  37. Okay. Well, that all sounds good.
  38. And can we get lunch there?
  39. You can, and it's very good,
  40. Though it's not included in the basic cost.
  41. You pay when you get there.
  42. Right.
  43. So, is there anything else to do over
  44. On that side of the lake?
  45. Well, what you can do is take
  46. A bike over on the ship
  47. And then go on a cycling trip.
  48. There's a trail there called the Back Road.
  49. You could easily spend three or four hours exploring it,
  50. And the scenery's wonderful.
  51. They'll give you a map when you
  52. Get your ticket for the cruise.
  53. There's no extra charge.
  54. What's the trail like in terms of difficulty?
  55. Quite challenging in places.
  56. It wouldn't be suitable for your seven-year-old.
  57. It needs someone who's got a bit more experience.
  58. Hmm. Well, my daughter loves cycling, and so do I,
  59. So maybe the two of us could go,
  60. And my wife and son could stay on the farm.
  61. That might work out quite well.
  62. But we don't have bikes here.
  63. Is there somewhere we could rent them?
  64. Yes, there's a place here in the city.
  65. It's called Ratchison's.
  66. I'll just make a note of that.
  67. How do you spell it?
  68. R-A-T-C-H-E-S-O-N-S. It's just by the cruise ship terminal.
  69. Okay. You'd also need to pick up a repair
  70. Kit for the bike from there to take along with you,
  71. And you'd need to take along a snack and some water.
  72. It'd be best to get those in the city.
  73. Fine. That shouldn't be a problem.
  74. And I assume I can rent a helmet from the bike place.
  75. Sure. You should definitely get that.
  76. It's a great ride, but you
  77. Want to be well prepared because it's very remote.
  78. You won't see any shops round there or anywhere to stay,
  79. So you need to get back in time for the last boat.
  80. Yeah. So what sort of prices are we looking at here?
  81. Let's see. That'd be one adult
  82. And one child for the cruise with farm tour.
  83. That's $117, and an adult and a child for the cruise only,
  84. So that's $214 altogether.
  85. Oh, wait a minute.
  86. How old did you say your daughter was?
  87. Fifteen. Then I'm afraid it's $267,
  88. Because she has to pay the adult fare,
  89. Which is $75, instead of the child fare, which is $22.
  90. Sorry about that.
  91. That's okay. So how do we find out...
