- You made it.
- Here you are at the end of the course, although it's not actually the end at all.
- It's more like the start.
- These days, we're in such a hurry that we even wanna slow down fast,
- but it doesn't work like that.
- Slowing down takes time.
- With that in mind, I want to leave you with three final thoughts.
- First, slow is good.
- It may seem redundant to say so at the end of a course like this,
- but it needs saying, out loud and over and over.
- Why? Because the taboo against slowness still runs deep in our culture.
- Second, slowing down can be hard.
- We all struggle to put on the brakes, me included.
- I've been praising slowness for nearly 20 years now,
- and yet sometimes even I go too fast or get distracted.
- The other day,
- I nearly got hit by a car when rushing to a meeting I wasn't even late for.
- Because the pressure and temptation to speed up are relentless.
- From time to time, you too will fall off the slow wagon.
- And that's okay.
- Never lose heart.
- Just dust yourself down and move forward.
- Trust me, you got this.
- Third and final thought.
- You are not alone.
- Don't try to slow down by yourself.
- No one is an island.
- We are all connected, and there is strength in numbers.
- Slowing down is so much more powerful when we do it together.
- So, team up with friends and family.
- Lean on fellow learners from the TED community.
- Slow down with your partner.
- Together, we can and will defeat the cult of speed.
- Together, we can become better people leading better lives in a better world.
