- Time to sound a note of caution.
- There's a risk that slowing down ends up being all about you.
- You becoming happier, you becoming healthier, you becoming more productive.
- And all of that is wonderful, of course, but it should not be the end game.
- Let me put it another way.
- Slowing down can and should go hand in hand with being of service to others.
- Because a fast life is a selfish life.
- When you live in roadrunner mode, you fixate on yourself.
- You ignore the bigger picture.
- When you slow down,
- you stop thinking so much about yourself and start thinking more about others.
- You see that we are all connected.
- You are able and eager to reach out.
- You find your better angels.
- And there's still a personal payoff here because studies show that helping others boosts your own health and happiness.
- Bottom line, the world is a better place for everyone when we all slow down and look out for each other.
- A famous proverb sums this up nicely.
- It says, if you want to go fast, go alone.
- If you want to go far, go together.
