  1. Time to sound a note of caution.
  2. There's a risk that slowing down ends up being all about you.
  3. You becoming happier, you becoming healthier, you becoming more productive.
  4. And all of that is wonderful, of course, but it should not be the end game.
  5. Let me put it another way.
  6. Slowing down can and should go hand in hand with being of service to others.
  7. Because a fast life is a selfish life.
  8. When you live in roadrunner mode, you fixate on yourself.
  9. You ignore the bigger picture.
  10. When you slow down,
  11. you stop thinking so much about yourself and start thinking more about others.
  12. You see that we are all connected.
  13. You are able and eager to reach out.
  14. You find your better angels.
  15. And there's still a personal payoff here because studies show that helping others boosts your own health and happiness.
  16. Bottom line, the world is a better place for everyone when we all slow down and look out for each other.
  17. A famous proverb sums this up nicely.
  18. It says, if you want to go fast, go alone.
  19. If you want to go far, go together.
