3. I want to report a theft.
4. I had some things stolen out of my bag yesterday.
5. I'm sorry to hear that.
6. Right, so I'll need to take a few details.

9. Okay, thank you.
10. And are you resident in the UK?
11. No, I'm actually Canadian, though my mother was British.
12. And your date of birth?
13. December 14th, 1977.
14. So you're just visiting this country?
15. That's right.
16. I come over most summers on business.
17. I'm an interior designer, and I come over to buy old furniture.
18. Antiques, you know?
19. There are some really lovely things around here,
20. but you need to get out to the small towns.
21. I've had a really good trip this year, until this happened.
22. Okay.
23. So you've been here quite a while?
24. Yes.
25. I'm here for two months.
26. I go back next week.
27. So, may I ask where you're staying now?
28. Well, at present I've got a place at Park Apartments.

30. I was staying at the Riverside Apartments on the same street,
31. but the apartment there was only available for six weeks,
32. so I had to find another one.

40. And were you actually carrying the bag when the theft took place?

42. I really can't understand it.
43. I had my backpack on and I went into a supermarket to buy a few things.
44. And when I opened it up, my wallet wasn't there.
45. And what did your wallet have in it?
46. Well, fortunately, I don't keep my credit cards in that wallet.
47. I keep them with my passport in an inside compartment in my backpack.
48. But there was quite a bit of cash there.

50. I withdrew 300 pounds from my account yesterday,
51. but I did a bit of shopping.
52. So I must have already spent about fifty pounds of that.

54. At first I thought, oh, I must have left the wallet back in the apartment.
55. But then I realized my phone had gone as well.
56. It was only a week old, and that's when I realized I'd been robbed.
57. Anyway, at least they didn't take the keys to my rental car.
