  1. Great. Well, hi, everyone.
  2. My name's Jody,
  3. And I'm one of the four recreation officers here at Rainforest Lodge.
  4. My job is to make sure that you all have a great stay here with us
  5. And go away feeling relaxed and refreshed.
  6. As you can see,
  7. We're literally in the middle of nowhere at the lodge.
  8. There are no newspapers or TVs,
  9. And there's only one phone, and that's in the office.
  10. The lodge is a complete get-away-from-it-all experience,
  11. A place to unwind
  12. And appreciate the world without a lot of interruptions and distractions.
  13. From your cabin balcony, you'll find that you can't see anyone else,
  14. And the only noise you should hear is the birds.
  15. When the luggage comes,
  16. One of the guys will take it across to your cabin for you
  17. And make sure you know the way back here to the main center for dinner in the restaurant.
  18. Dinner will be served in about an hour or so.
  19. All the times of each day's activities are printed
  20. On the blue sheet you should have got in the information guides that were handed out on the coach.
  21. Each explorer trip has a different focus,
  22. So it doesn't matter how many you do or on what day,
  23. Because there's always something new to discover in the rainforest.
  24. Tomorrow I think we've still got places on the Orchid and Fungi Tour.
  25. This is on foot
  26. And takes you to different parts of the rainforest.
  27. Or, if you prefer, there's the four-wheel drive tour to the waterfalls.
  28. Or the fishing trip, where I promise you we'll catch some lunch.
  29. And, last but not least,
  30. The famous crocodile cruise that leaves at 11 a.m.
  31. Each day. just in time for the crocodile's lunch.
  32. Oh, plenty to choose from here at Rainforest Lodge.
  33. Or just sit on your balcony,
  34. Relax and unwind and enjoy the views.
  35. In the evenings, there is the Spotlight Tour, one of my favorites.
  36. The Spotlight Tour leaves at sundown
  37. And lets you catch a glimpse of some more of the rainforest wildlife
  38. As it comes out at dusk to feed.
  39. That's a great trip, and if you can,
  40. I'd really try to make sure you do it during your stay.
  41. You've chosen to visit the rainforest in March,
  42. Which is just at the end of the wet season,
  43. So you'll soon notice how well the waterfalls are running
  44. And also how damp the ground is.
  45. Things can tend to get a bit slippery, too,
  46. So if you didn't bring any walking boots,
  47. I'd advise you to hire some from the office.
  48. You'll also be much better off in long trousers rather than shorts,
  49. Because they will give your legs more protection.
  50. And socks are a good idea, too.
  51. There's no need to be nervous of the rainforest,
  52. Provided that you treat it with respect and common sense.
  53. Most of the animals and wildlife are gentle and harmless.
  54. There are some venomous snakes to beware of, but really,
  55. They're much more frightened of you than you are of them.
  56. The other thing is that certain plants can cause irritation
  57. If you touch them with bare skin.
  58. Well, that's about all for the time being.
